MIA

Sorry that is have been so MIA lately. I have been one busy gal... wedding shower for Jessica, Gwen's birthday, crafting, projects... the list goes on and on. On top of all of that, I am doing some soul searching and learning a lot about myself in the process. More to come I am sure ;)

I will leave you with some snapshots and tid bits from the last couple weeks!

Frozen Delicious

A week ago, Ted and I wanted to get ice cream, so we went to this place called Yogurt Lab. They just opened it up by Lake Calhoun and it is amazing! I know that it will be a huge mess come summer and weekends as it already is quite disorganized, but the concept is GREAT. So here is how it works: you go in and grab a cup/bowl. They only have one size. Then you choose from any of the frozen yogurts that they have on that day (looks like they rotate flavors - a periodic table of flavors on the wall shows everything that they carry). They have all low fat and non-fat and so many to choose from. I think they had about 12-15 flavors on the night we went. I got salted caramel, cupcake and tahitian vanilla. Ted got dark chocolate, coffee and tart. Then you get to choose from TOPPINGS GALORE. Like fruits and candy and cereal and sugar. I heard they eveb had olive oil if you wanted. I tried to section my flavors and then top them accordingly... Ted on the other hand just went to town and mashed them all together.. though it did taste pretty dang good. Then you just pay by the oz, like 48 cents an ounce. Our total together was just over $12... so we had about 22ish ounces. hahaa. but so fun! If anyone wants to go sometime... let me tag along. It might be my new obsession :) I only wish I would have taken a picture of my creation. Next time...

Easter 2012

Day travelled with the family to Iowa for Easter.  Great to see family and eat good food. Now I just need to get all the candy out of my apartment before I explode from eating it all. Also, how adorable are the chick deviled eggs?

Aye matey!

I dont have an iPhone. I have a Droid. It does what it is meant to do... maybe slower than it should. Anyway, smart phones can do everything now. You can check your bank account, text, make calls, keep up with all social media sites, play games.... and make people look like pirates.

Weekend getaway

This last weekend was amazing! The long weekend started thursday night at the Of Monsters and Men concert. The show was amazing and really showcased the talented band! Friday was spent away from the cities. It was a much needed vacation.  Despite the cooler weather, Ted and I had a blast exploring Taylor's Falls, St. Croix Falls, and Osceola. Below are some pictures of our adventure.

St. Patrick's recap

This year was the tamest St. Patrick's days I have had.... however, still fun! I didn't get lost, spend $240+, or have to find a nice woman to bring me home. I would say that it was a success!

Warming up!

This unseasonably warm weather has me all crazy for more spring and summer time! Last weekend was spent roaming Uptown without jackets and enjoying the sun. We were out walking almost all of the day. I even had my very first full cigar! Ted and I picked out two cigars in Uptown and then enjoyed them on his rooftop deck while sipping "tan Margaritas." These margaritas consist of mostly tequila and will become part of my summer diet.

This weather also has me going crazy here at work. How can it be so nice outside while I am stuck in the office with my back to the window? Walks to Caribou definitely help get me through the day!

Currently, I am yearning for more walks, cabin time, bright colors to add to my nails and wardrobe, platform wedge sandals and the start of patio season.

Lets hope that the weather will continue to be this glorious!

Another year!

WOW! What a whirlwind weekend! I celebrated my 28th birthday on Friday by taking the day off of work. I salvaged a hangover from the Thursday night happy hour and spent the day with Ted! He made me a great "happy birthday" fruit tray and had a very cupcake themed day! We spent the rest of the day taking walks, playing mini golf at MOA and then went on the Surly Brewery tour. After that, we were thoroughly disappointed with the Minneapolis nightlife (nightlife staff mainly) but ended up staying out until bar close… complete with a late night semi-decent pizza run. I have not been able to bring myself to have Ted see me indulge in drunken Toppers yet. I am sure he will soon enough :)

Saturday was spent sleeping in and then I was surprised with a strawberry shake from McDonald's (a weakness of mine for sure) from Gwen … and her and I trekked to Andover to visit Mama Gautsch and the rest of the fam. My mom is doing VERY well following her knee replacement and I am anxious for her to get out of that recovery stage. Love you, Mom!

Sunday was my grown up birthday afternoon. I got my friends together at The old Drink in Uptown (now the Uptown Tavern) for their bloody mary bar (which is insane btw and $3 a bloody). It was great to get everyone together… though I feel very overwhelmed making sure I chat with everyone. Thanks to those that came out! I had a GREAT afternoon and weekend. I am truly blessed with the best friends and family and have so much love in my life!!!

Today, as I sit at work and reflect on the great weekend... All I want to do is put in a good workout, have a solo Target run and take a long bath. That is definitely on my agenda for this evening! The massive amounts of eating and drinking this weekend also make me want to detox until St. Patrick's day :)

Xoxo! Here is to another wonderful year ahead of me!

Man Time

Over the weekend, I attended SnowGRADE. SnowGRADE came from the creators of NorthernGRADE (the initial event last September) and provided attendees an opportunity to shop and watch demonstration/workshops focusing entirely around the modern/hip man. Thouh for men, the event was highly entertaining for me! Vendors came to showcase their USA-made goods and it was very fun to act as though I was interested in buying that $300 leather satchel. Also, they provided enough liquor and beer for people to think that the $300 satchel was a steal of a price.

The event reminded me a lot of the women's expos that I have gone to with Mama Gautsch…. But 100 times cooler! The whole venue swarmed with hip men, cool goods, and great spirits. Below are some pictures from the event… with some random pictures from the weekend strewn in (chicken and waffles from Bulldog NE and spicy bloodies from Green Mill).

Birthday Season!

I love this time of year. The days seem to be getting longer and there are glimpses of spring on the way. Also, my birthday is one week away! Tonight officially kicked off my birthday week with a dinner out with Kim and Liz!  These two have been a huge part of my life and I love them! Thank you for helping me kick of the celebrating!

Also, I made a cake for myself.  Why not,  right? ;) it is actually to be shared with my brother... but I think we all know that it looks more like a Cara-cake than a Phil-cake!

Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY PHIL! I love you lots!

Experiences

About a year ago, I rejoined the wonderful world of online dating. Joining a free dating site was definitely interesting, to say the least. The first message I ever received was from a French man that called me "beautiful, ravishing and revolting." Not a very good pick up line in my book.

First dates came and went without a second date ever being discussed. Failed attempts at dating taught me a lot about myself but left me feeling a little hopeless regarding the quality of men that were left in the dating pool. I met some great guys, but those great guys weren't interested in me, or there wasn’t a spark. I met some crazy men that told me stories of them stealing from churches or lied about their alcohol addictions that had them living in a half-way house.

Then, somewhere as the profile searching fizzled out I was introduced to someone that I now call my boyfriend. We met through mutual friends and he is the coolest man I have EVER met. He is genuine and charming. He is sarcastic and witty. He is handsome and strong. He makes me HAPPY.

I think the saying is true that you need to meet a lot of frogs to find your Prince. I needed to meet different men, experience heartbreak and learn about myself in order to be able to open my life up to someone.

Side note: I met Ted's family Sunday and I walked in like a deer in headlights. I have never "met the parents" before. It went great! I love knowing where Ted came from and why he is the way he is today.

He is meeting my family this weekend... wish him luck ;)

My Valentine

My Valentine's day was more than I could have asked for. I received a special flower delivery at work which made my day.
In the evening, before taking me to Red Stag Supper Club, Ted came over with hand dipped white chocolate strawberries, a new shiny chain for my "c" charm and the sweetest card ever. Dinner with him was simply amazing :) I even got to rock my pink sequined jacket (which I got compliments on right away!).
thank you Ted for being the best Valentine ever!
